What a pass rate does not tell you
It is tempting to read 51.4% as a difficulty score for the roads. It is not. A centre's pass rate is mostly a fact about the people who book tests there: how much instruction they have had, how much private practice, how many are on a second or third attempt, and how ready they were when the date came round. Nationally the range runs from 34.3% to 63.2%, and no set of junctions explains a gap that wide.
Two candidates of the same standard do not have meaningfully different odds because of a postcode. What does change the odds is hours behind the wheel on the roads they will be tested on, which is why the useful question is not whether this centre is hard but whether the roads around it are familiar.

Three rule changes apply here as everywhere. Since 12 May 2026 only the learner can book or move their own test, so an instructor cannot do it for them. Since 31 March 2026 a test can be changed twice rather than six times. And since 9 June 2026 it can only move to one of the three nearest centres, which means a candidate booked at Hendon is almost certainly being tested on roads near Hendon.
